New Delhi, April 21, 2018: Tata Motors finally breaks the monotony and made an entry to the top 10 selling passenger cars list with the Tiago in the fiscal 2017-18. Tata Tiago, which gained the tenth position in the list, sold 78,829 units contributing over 38 per cent of the total sales of Tata Motors. Tata Tiago replaces Maruti Ciaz that was at the tenth position in the FY2017-18.
According to report published in auto.economictimes.indiatimes.com by Deepanshu Taumar Despite falling sales, Renault Kwid made it to the ninth position at 83,089 units, contributing over 80 per cent of the total sales of the Renault India.
On the other hand, top five selling cars are from the market leader Maruti Suzuki. Growing at a marginal pace, the Alto still holds the top position of the best-selling car in India at 258,539 units, compared to 241,635 units sold last fiscal.

The Alto was followed by compact sedan Dzire at the second position. Maruti Suzuki sold 196,990 units of Dzire compared to 167,266 units in the last fiscal.
Interestingly, Maruti Suzuki Dzire is the only sedan that has featured in the top-selling passenger car list and none of the mid-size sedan car made it to the top list.
Meanwhile, the Baleno pushed Hyundai Motor India’s Elite i20, and Grand i10, sister brand Swift and made it to the third position by selling 190,480 units last fiscal.
The Swift and the Wagon R were at the fourth and fifth positions, respectively. Hyundai sold 151,113 units of the Grand i10 and 136,182 units of the Elite i20 in the financial year 2017-18.
