New Delhi, October 09, 2018: Earlier we informed you that Maruti Suzuki would commence the rigorous testing of its electric vehicle to introduce an electric vehicle by 2020 in the country. Maruti Suzuki has flagged-off proto-type WagonR electric vehicles for field test. The fleet was flagged off from the Maruti Suzuki’s Gurugram facility by Senior Executive Director (Engineering), Mr CV Raman. Mr Osamu Suzuki, Chairman of Suzuki Motor Corporation, Japan confirmed at the MOVE Summit in September, that the company would start field testing of 50 prototype EVs.

According to report published in autoportal.com The prototypes have been developed exclusively by Suzuki Motor Corporation, Japan and built at the company’s Gurugram facility, as sticking with its commitment to the Government’s Make in India scheme. This real-life testing of the vehicles in multiple terrains and climatic conditions that help the company in collecting valuable data for the validation and launch of EV technology in India.

Maruti Suzuki to gather critical inputs based on customer perspectives and the testing of these vehicles will also help in order to create a reliable and suitable Electric Vehicle to lure Indian buyers. The prototype EVs have been developed on the existing model of Suzuki Motor Corporation, Japan.
