New Delhi, July 19, 2018: Mahindra’s long-awaited MPV, U321 has been caught on camera multiple times at previous occasions. The MPV has been caught testing once again with minimum camouflage. Spy shots of the upcoming Mahindra MPV, codenamed U321 almost reveal its front end and here are some details of its design and styling. The front of the upcoming Mahindra U321 features the signature toothed grille and swooping bi-beam headlamps. There is a large windshield at front that rakes up. The test mule sported a maroon exterior colour and featured six-twin-spoke alloy wheels at the side.
According to reports published in autoportal.com Designed as a traditional MPV, U321 is based on the all-new unibody platform and gets the newly developed 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder oil burner with maximum power of 130bhp. The new engine is expected to be paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. As Mahindra intends to offer all its future models with a petrol option, a petrol variant could also be added, however there is yet no information on the same.
If U321 MPV gets a petrol engine, Mahindra could think of using the circa-140bhp 1.2-litre turbocharged, three-cylinder engine which will be introduced with S201. As for the feature list, expect the MPV to get projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights, rear air vents, automatic climate control, touchscreen infotainment system with satellite navigation and Android support, a multifunction steering wheel, etc.
Mahindra is expected to introduce U321 MPV in seven and eight seat versions with prices starting upwards of Rs 10 lakh. This will place U321 in between Maruti Ertiga which is up for a generation change and top-selling model Toyota Innova in the segment.
