New Delhi, July 08, 2018: Italian two-wheeler manufacturer Aprilia revealed the Storm 125 at the Auto Expo 2018. The Aprilia Storm 125 was unveiled alongside the SR 125, which was launched in the country at Rs 65,310 ex-showroom (Pune). The Aprilia Storm is based on the SR 125 but gets few cosmetic changes.
The Aprilia Storm 125 was expected to be launched in the country in 2018. But GaadiWaadi reports the launch of the scooter has been delayed and the Storm 125 will be launched in India in January 2019. The report also states that there are several reasons for the delay of the launch.
According to report published in m.dailyhunt.in Aprilia will introduce only the CBS variant of the Storm 125 in India. Initially, Aprilia planned to launch the non-CBS variant of the scooter by this year’s festive season before the mandatory rules kick-in from April 2019. From April 2019 all two-wheelers up to 125cc should be equipped with CBS.
Aprilia will launch the Storm 125 in India three months before the deadline. With the inclusion of CBS, the price of all the two-wheelers will slightly increase. The overall design of the Storm 125 is similar to the SR 125 except for some changes such as a new paint scheme, bigger alloy wheels and wider rear tyre.
The Aprilia Storm 125 draws power from the same 124cc, 3-valve, single cylinder engine that produces 9.46bhp and 8.2Nm of torque. The engine of the Aprilia SR 125 is mated to a CVT gearbox. The sporty scooter gets a 6.5-litre fuel tank as opposed to the 7-litre tank of the SR 125.
The Aprilia Storm 125 is equipped with 30mm telescopic forks up front and a single rear shock absorber at the rear which can be adjusted for preload. Aprilia states that the Storm 125 is designed for youth and will come with several accessories.
The scooter also gets disc brake at the front and drum unit at the rear. The funky graphics of the Storm 125 also adds to the looks of the scooter.
Thoughts On The Aprilia Storm 125
The Aprilia Storm 125 is based on the SR 125 and features the same design language. The Aprilia Storm 125 will be launched at a time when the demand for premium 125cc scooters is on a steady rise.
The Aprilia Storm 125 could be priced around Rs 62,000 ex-showroom and will be slotted below the SR 125. The Aprilia Storm 125 will lock horns with the likes of TVS Ntorq 125, Honda Grazia and the upcoming Suzuki Burgman Street.
